Don’t Turn Your Entire Life Into a Skincare Routine.

Dear Skin Bestie,

Can we talk about something?

Because I think we’ve reached a point where taking care of our skin has started to feel like a full-time job.

You wake up and there’s a morning routine.

Then there’s the night routine.

Then there’s the routine you’re supposed to follow when you break out.

The routine for dark spots.

The routine for dry skin.

The routine for when you accidentally buy a product that doesn’t agree with your face.

And don’t even get me started on the skincare advice that says you need a different product for every possible concern.

At some point, you have to ask yourself…

Are we taking care of our skin, or are we letting our skin run our lives?

Because, honestly, your face deserves care.

But so do you.

Your skin doesn’t need you to be perfect every single day

Let’s say you had a terrible night.

You slept late.

You woke up tired.

You rushed through your morning and forgot one step in your skincare routine.

Now you’re wondering whether you’ve ruined all your progress.

Bestie.

Breathe.

One missed skincare step doesn’t erase every good habit you’ve built.

And one breakout doesn’t mean you’ve failed at taking care of yourself.

Skin changes.

Life gets busy.

Some days you have the energy to do everything. Other days, washing your face and getting into bed is a genuine achievement.

You are allowed to have those days.

The goal isn’t to create a routine that only works when life is going perfectly.

The goal is to build one that still feels manageable when life gets messy.

Can we stop treating every new skin concern like an emergency?

A new pimple appears.

Immediately, the investigation begins.

What did I eat?

Which product caused this?

Is it hormonal?

Should I exfoliate?

Should I stop using everything?

Should I buy that product everyone is talking about?

Before you know it, you’ve changed your entire routine because of one breakout.

And sometimes, all that extra experimenting can make it harder to understand what’s actually working for your skin.

If you’re dealing with acne, consistency with an appropriate routine matters. Introducing too many new products or harsh treatments at once can irritate your skin and make it difficult to identify what is helping or causing a reaction.

So instead of treating every pimple like a crisis, give yourself permission to slow down.

Keep your routine simple.

Pay attention to how your skin responds.

And if your acne is persistent, painful or leaving significant marks, consider getting advice from a qualified skin professional.

You don’t have to solve everything by yourself.

Your skin has a life outside your bathroom mirror

Here’s something I wish more skincare conversations made room for.

You are not just a face with a skincare routine.

You are a person who has to wake up, go to work or school, handle responsibilities, manage relationships, pay bills, deal with stress and somehow find time to rest.

Your skin exists within that life.

And caring for yourself can include much more than what you apply to your face.

Maybe it’s getting to bed a little earlier instead of scrolling for another hour.

Maybe it’s eating a proper meal instead of surviving on whatever you can grab between errands.

Maybe it’s taking a walk, calling someone you love, or finally making that appointment you’ve been postponing.

None of these habits is a magic cure for acne or a substitute for medical care.

But they can help you build a healthier relationship with your overall wellbeing.

And that matters too.

Let’s make wellness feel a little less like homework

I think one reason people abandon healthy habits is that we sometimes make them unnecessarily difficult.

Everything becomes a challenge.

A 30-day routine.

A strict schedule.

A long list of things you must do before you’re allowed to feel good about yourself.

But what if wellness could be simpler?

What if you started with one or two habits that fit naturally into your day?

A short walk.

A more consistent bedtime.

A few minutes away from your phone.

A cup of something warm while you slow down.

Nothing dramatic.

Nothing that requires you to completely reinvent your life by Monday morning.

Just small things you enjoy enough to keep doing.

Our little September ritual: Spearmint Tea 🌿

At Acneexpertskin, we’ve been talking about Spearmint Tea throughout September as part of our wider skin and wellness conversation.

And I want to make one thing clear.

We’re not asking you to believe that drinking tea will clear your acne, treat PMOS or balance your hormones.

That’s not the promise.

Instead, imagine this:

You’ve had a long day.

Your mind is still running through everything you didn’t finish.

You finally sit down, make yourself a cup of Spearmint Tea and take a few minutes to enjoy it.

No scrolling through another list of skincare mistakes.

No researching another supplement.

No feeling guilty because your routine wasn’t perfect today.

Just a little moment for yourself.

That’s the kind of everyday ritual we want to encourage.

A simple way to make room for intentional self-care.

And if you’re managing PMOS or persistent acne, that ritual can sit alongside the professional care and treatment appropriate for you.

It doesn’t have to replace anything.

It can simply be something you enjoy.

So, Skin Bestie, here’s your permission slip

You don’t have to own every trending skincare product.

You don’t have to change your entire diet because somebody online blamed your breakout on one food.

You don’t have to turn your wellness routine into a second job.

And you certainly don’t have to feel bad about yourself because your skin isn’t behaving exactly how you want it to.

Take care of your skin.

Ask questions when something changes.

Get help when you need it.

Build habits that support your well being.

And remember that you’re allowed to enjoy your life while you’re figuring out your skin.

You are a whole person, not a before-and-after picture.

And your wellness routine should make room for that.

So here’s to fewer panic purchases, more intentional habits, and little moments that remind us to take care of ourselves.

Maybe that starts with a simple cup of Spearmint Tea.

Maybe it starts with getting some rest tonight.

Either way, let it be something you do because you deserve care… not because you feel like you have to earn it.

Love 🤎
